I paint under my maiden name of Abrandt to identify with my lifetime passion of art. Painting landscapes of California's coastal and interior valleys has been my focus for the past three decades. In 2011, I stepped out of my comfort zone, venturing into acrylic landscape and abstract painting.
Born in Hilo, Hawaii, my love of color began in the islands. From a very early age, I found my passion, distraction and purpose through art. My childhood drawings reflected the greens, blues and golds of the rich tropical life. I felt quite the aesthetic shock when my parents moved our family to Los Angeles when I was 8. Was quite relieved when my father was transferred to a new business location in San Diego County and I could once again breathe in the open spaces of country life. I continued my art education throughout high school and later majored in Commercial Art in college. After marriage, divorce and the raising of two children, I continue to inspire my creativity by attending private lessons and workshops from admired professional artists such as Scott Christensen, Elizabeth Tolley, John Budicin, and Robert Burridge.
My philosophy; "Wiggle forward, stretch to grow out of your comfort zone and spirtus will move you to greater heights."
ABrandt’s original oil and acrylic paintings have been featured in The Brandon Art Gallery, Fallbrook, California, the COAL Gallery, Carlsbad, California and private collections. Landscape and contemporary art have benefited charitable organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club and American Heart Association.
